A new light for
Southeast Texas

Be the light. Build the change.

SETX Beacon brings neighbors together through local events, shared service, and genuine community connection and creating spaces where everyone belongs.

A new kind of civic organization.

SETX Beacon is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in Southeast Texas. We are not a government agency, a political group, or a social services provider. We are a community organization focused entirely on bringing people together and making it easier for residents to show up, connect, and take part in the life of their region.

We believe a stronger Southeast Texas starts with neighbors who know each other. Everything we do is designed to make that happen.

Southeast Texas Born

We were created here, by people who live here, for the communities of Jefferson, Orange, and Hardin Counties.

Nonpartisan & Open to All

We don't represent a party, a candidate, or an agenda. We represent the belief that connected communities are stronger ones.

Free, Always

Every program, every event, every gathering is free and open to the public. No dues, no barriers, no catch.

This only works if people feel like they belong.

Southeast Texas does not need another organization talking at people. It needs spaces where people feel welcome enough to show up, stay, and take part.

About SETX Beacon

A nonprofit built from a simple belief: Southeast Texas deserves a community people genuinely want to be part of.

We close the gap between wanting to help and knowing how.

BEACON is a Southeast Texas nonprofit focused on civic participation and community connection. We started with a simple observation: people want to be involved, but many do not feel invited, informed, or connected enough to take that first step.

Our role is to close that gap. We create spaces where people can show up, learn, meet others, and start getting involved in ways that feel natural and accessible.

Our Values

Welcome & Respect

People deserve to feel welcomed and respected from the moment they show up.

Clear Information

Civic information should be clear, accessible, and free of jargon for everyone.

Relationships First

Community is built through real relationships, not transactions or one-time events.

Real Participation

Everyone should have a genuine chance to take part and have their voice heard.

How We Got Here

Where This Started

This work started through local organizing where neighbors were helping neighbors understand voting, local issues, and how to get involved.

The Gap Became Clear

We saw the real barrier was not interest. It was connection. People wanted to show up but did not always know how or where.

BEACON was created to focus on that gap: building community spaces and making civic participation more accessible.
